Voting for a new Constitution
The NEMBC is preparing for an important vote on changes to our Constitution, and we want to give all our Members the opportunity to have their voice heard.
Our team has spent the last few weeks working with stations to ensure we have an up-to-date program list. This is vital for ensuring that each station receives the right allocation of votes.
Special General Meeting
A Special General Meeting of the Members will be held in the first week of December, where the vote will take place. A formal notice will be sent out next week with details of the meeting, the motion being voted on, and the voting process.
Only confirmed delegates will be able to vote, and they must attend the SGM for their votes to be counted.
Further information regarding the nomination of delegates and proxies will be sent out next week.
It’s vital that you share your views with station leadership so your voice is part of the decision-making process.
Hear from our President
We’ve created a short video from the NEMBC President, explaining what the vote is about and why it matters. Please take a moment to watch and then speak with your station leaders about how your vote will be represented.

Upcoming NEMBC Online Forums
The NEMBC is pleased to announce that we will be hosting two more online forums in December 2025, with dates to be confirmed shortly.
These sessions form part of our biannual process to connect directly with members and station leadership teams, providing an open space to share ideas, discuss challenges and explore opportunities for innovation and engagement across the multicultural media sector.
Following the success of our first round of forums, which brought together members and stations from across Australia, we’re excited to continue these conversations. The feedback and insights shared so far have been instrumental in helping us better understand the needs of our community and guide the NEMBC’s future priorities.
These upcoming forums including the Member Insight Forum and the Station Leadership Forum will focus on how the NEMBC can best support stations in areas such as digital transformation, content development and community engagement.
Your input is vital in shaping the direction of the NEMBC’s work and ensuring we continue to serve the needs of our members effectively. Please keep an eye out for the official dates and registration links, which will be shared soon. We look forward to another round of productive, collaborative discussions that strengthen our voice across the community media sector.

NEMBC at the 2025 CBAA Conference
The NEMBC Board and Team were delighted to attend the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) Conference in Hobart, Tasmania from 23rd – 25th October 2025. The event brought together broadcasters, station managers and sector leaders from across Australia. Creating a vibrant space for collaboration, learning and exchange of ideas.
It was wonderful to reconnect with community media colleagues and witness the shared commitment to strengthening our sector. The NEMBC attended several engaging workshops and sessions showcasing new program ideas, innovations in technology, discussions around sustainability and audience engagement. These conversations highlighted the diversity and creativity that continue to drive Australia’s community broadcasting network.
We would like to extend our warm thanks to the CBAA for their invitation and for hosting such a successful conference.
The NEMBC values these opportunities to connect with partners and share our ongoing work in supporting multicultural and multilingual broadcasting, ensuring that the voices of culturally and linguistically diverse communities remain heard and represented across Australia.
As we look ahead, the NEMBC is eager to continue building stronger connections and collaborations within the Australian community media sector. We look forward to participating again at future CBAA events and working closely with stations nationwide to champion diversity and inclusion in media.

Members Value Proposition Projects
The NEMBC is excited to invite NEMBC members of the Broadcasters’ Bursary Fund, created through our partnership with the Entertainment fundraising program. This initiative is designed to directly support ethnic and multicultural broadcasters across Australia by building a dedicated pool of funding that can provide meaningful assistance where it’s most needed. When you purchase an Entertainment membership, you’ll enjoy access to an range of savings 50% off movies, dining, events, holidays, activities and more.
The membership is delivered through a user-friendly app that tailors offers to your location, so you can enjoy benefits wherever you are.
By using the app, twenty per cent of every purchase goes straight into the Bursary Fund. This means every membership helps deliver grants to broadcasters, from supporting travel to conferences and training, to assisting rural and regional stations, to helping new broadcasters from migrant and refugee backgrounds get started.
We encourage all members to not only purchase a membership themselves but also share the link with friends, family and listeners: https://subscribe.entertainment.com.au/fundraiser/9705k86

NEMBC Application for a Second Round of Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Grant
The NEMBC is preparing an application to develop a second round of multilingual explainers to support DonateLife and the Organ and Tissue Authority in encouraging all Australians to discuss organ and tissue donation, register as donors, and talk to their families about donation.
In 2025, we produced an audio explainer series titled “Share the Gift of Life” in English and in Australia’s nine most spoken languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Scripts were developed in consultation with health experts and community representatives, translated into nine languages, recorded by voice talents across the country, and produced as Headliner-style videos with accompanying graphics.
This round will include new languages. We invite any radio broadcasters or producers interested in contributing voiceovers or ideas to contact us as we finalise our grant application.
Reminder: SBS Content Platform for NEMBC Members
